also i didnot understand the lagic the gemarah gives for Reb Yochanan, why if a fire has no subatsnace does it become your arrow, even though it travels on its own? just because we can't call it "your property," does it automotically become "you"?!

Rabbi Yochanan was born around 180 CE, that is more than a century after the destruction of the Beis Hamikdash.

I think "hi" was referring to R. Yochanan ben Zakai, who was the leader of the Jews during the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 C.E. The R. Yochanan mentioned in this Gemara was the brother-in-law and colleague of R. Shimon ben Lakish, also known as Reish Lakish. The two lived much later.

Can someone please clarify, I am still left with a question. If Hashem's "arrows" are different because He can always retrieve them, then why do we fast on the 9th of Av which is when it was set off but Hashem could have still ended it, so shouldn't we fast on the 10th??

chaval chaval even after you have posted that lower resolution is fixed, i am not able to access these classes.it's been this way for some time. in the merit of the Alte Rebbe's yartzeit may this situation be rectified so the wellsprings may continue to flow outward!
