This class was presented on Sunday morning, 25 Tamuz 5776, July 31, 2016, at Ohr Chaimshul, Monsey, NY. It explains the reason the Rambam gives us an unusual history lesson about the Holy Ark in his halachik work. "When King Solomon built the Holy Temple, knowing that it was destined to be destroyed, he built a place in which to hide the Ark, [at the end of] hidden, deep, winding passageways.” It was there that King Josiah placed the Ark twenty-two years before the Temple’s destruction.
The Beis Hamikdash in Jerusalem was built by King Solomon in the year 2928 from creation (833 BCE), and was destroyed 410 years later, on the ninth day of the month of Av, by the armies of the Babylonian emperor Nebuchadnezzar. Seventy years later it was rebuilt; the second Temple stood for 420 years, until its destruction by the Romans, also on the ninth of Av, in 3829 (69 CE).
From the Rambam's words about the Ark we discover that the core of the Temple was never destroyed. What is more, it means that the first, second and third Temples are not three different structures, but the continuum of a single edifice. in this class we also discover why we allow ourselves to make such destructive mistakes. It turns out we are the ones who do this to ourselves for a very healing reason.

The roots of our Balitiki, the World (Fig) Tree of the Filipino, reached all the way down to Yrushalayim, deep into the living caverns of the Beis HaMikdosh, which lay deep within the ground, where it was never destroyed.

What brought יאשייהו המלך to come to the conclusion or to the decision to make the לויים to put the Arc in the second holly place? Why it didn't happen before, or after?

1) maybe because they did aveiros which was a sign for the golus like it seis מפני חטאינו גלינו מארצינו
2) it was after they got the Nevuah That they will go to golus
3) the reason that shlomo made this hiding place for the aron is because like the Rambam Seis בעת שבנה שלמה את הבית וידע שסופו ליחרב which means that he knew right when he bilt it that it will get destroyed with רוח הקודש so to here you can answer that they knew that now is the time to hide the aron.
& just like then thy had neviim that told them that the gouls is coming so to on the contrery we have a Navi - the lubavitcher rebbe that prophsaysd that Very Very soon the aron will come out & be reveld with his revelation of moshiach Right Now!

Rabbi Jacobson thank you for this briliant explanation of the Rebbe's Siha.
How can you explain, if the Aron was hidden 40 years before the destruction of the first Temple, how come could the romans have seen the Cherubin and the Aron when they penetrated the Temple?

Because beside the cherubim on the Aron, there were two large cherubim flanking it: 2 Chronicles 3:10 - 13

No,the Gemara speaks about the Cherubim that were supposed to be interlaced when the Jewish People was close to Hashem; this seems to concern exclusively the cherubim on the Ark

in the gemara there (where it says that they saw the cruvim) it says clearly that it is not talkink about the cruvin on the aron rather the cruvim on the wall
