    When a person thinks thoughts he can fool himself

    That he understands it or that it makes sense.  Only when speaking to  another (or writing) must he confront whether he understands it  and that it makes sense. So speech to another is critical. And so when a teacher teaches new thoughts come into him that did not come until he spoke to others.  

    Maariv is  rishus. Greater is he who does when commanded than he who does when not commanded   We are not commanded to  daven maariv as we are fir shachris and mincha.  If one errs in maariv he does not  repeat. Is it then true that the reward for maariv is  less than for the other tefilla? 

    Tge mitzvah is panini and the brocha is  makiv.  Sounds like  a gift and the giftwrap.

    It is well known that most Sefardi bts who come to  yeshiva need only have the dust blown out their engraved emunah. Like letters in stone. But generally more intellectual askenazim whose emunah is  like ink on parchment need more that blowing away the dust. They need to  be  rewritten.  The former have emuna just below the surface
