Obviously, there’s no “mitzvah” to bring up questions from a non-believer. I used that only as an example of how to create a stimulating conversation.
Additionally, even if you don’t bring up these type of questions, people at some point on their lives may or will have questions, and it seems wise to preempt them by having done thing to say on the topic. How many frumeh Yiddden feel that we are afraid of such questions, and have been silenced and not allowed to ask them. Some even came to the (wrong) conclusion that there are no answers to the skeptics questions, that’s why we are not allowed to ask them...
Finally, the main point is to create an exciting Shabbos table, and in general a passionate Yiddishe environment, by having lively and stimulating discussions on all important matters, including faith and Hashem. Far better to address issues like why a good G-d would allow suffering, then to ignore them in fear that we don’t have answers.
Parents and educators, especially today (with all the forces we are exposed to), are responsible to engage their children and students, and educate themselves in addressing these pertinent issues. You don’t always need all the answers, but you need to be able to offer some intelligent response to the big questions. And if you don’t have all the information yourself, there are people who can be consulted and who can offer direction and guidance.
