Saints Or Sinners? Psychoanalyzing the Subconscious Brain of the Spies

How Do We Reconcile the Opposing Views on the Meraglim? Understanding the Inner Workings of Torah

1 hr 42 min

Class Summary:

This is a text-based class on a Maamar, a Chassidic discourse, said by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, on Shabbos Parshas Shlach, 26 Sivan, 5745, June 15, 1985 (a few days before the presenters Bar-Mitzvah). Rabbi YY Jacobson presented this class to congregation Beis Shmuel in Brooklyn, during the week of Parshas Shlach, 12-14 Sivan 5771, June 14-16, 2001.

The class explores the startling contrast between two interpretations of the spies -- that they were wicked men, who lacked faith on G-d; and that they were spirtiual giants fearful of losing their deep relationship with the Divine in the desert. How do we reconcile these two diametrically opposed perspectives?
