one is not obligated to pay for a Torah teacher for a child not his own
pity. Everyone knows the crushing burden of tuitions on many families, especially large families. In America there is also double taxation in that we pay jewish school tuition plus half our property taxes (paid by tenants also albeit indirectly) goes for public schools from which yidden have no benefit.
There ought to be a community tax on all to pay for jewish tuitions so the burden is more spread out. This is actually the property tax public school system.

Why Talmud Torah is so Important
Torah is Oxygen for the Soul. The Father has to learn Torah before he can teach his son, becasue he is the transmitter of the Mesorah, and the chain from Hashem to Moshe and frem generation to generation cannot be broken. If I don't leran Torah then I break the chain. That is like what the flight attendant says on an airplane, if the oxygen masks come out of the overhead, PUT YOUR OWN MASK ON FIRST, becasue if you try to save your young son before you save yourself, you're both going to die. That's why learning Torah is so important, and why the father hsa to learn before he can teach his child.
Torah is the same. Put you own mask on first!

Unfortnately...
even in Judaism, maybe I should say among some Jews, (maybe it's not true Judaism) there are Jewish men who still believe that women are second class citizens. So my question is why? If Judaism is revolutionary in its' belief that men and women are equal, why is it still a "problem" for some men. What are they being taught?

Teaching Torah for pay
How can it be not ok to charge to teach Torah and ok at the same time? I understand what you said about it taking away from the teacher's ability to do a job for pay, but still. Also, didn't Rambam besides teaching Torah have a job where he got paid? Also Rashi had a trade, no? Without being judgmental about this, maybe it's ok today (minchag as you say) because we just can't do it any other way. So the justification for charging becomes status quo. hmmmm....

Getting Married and learning Torah
The man should learn Torah first, before getting married? But Torah study is lifelong. Even after marriage Torah study is always something one should do. So does it really matter if married first or married later? I understand what Rambam is saying about learning Torah before married, but then marriage might not ever happen or at a later age. Is that why Isaac and Jacob got married so late? They were learning Torah first.?

TT chapter 1
1. Why does the Rambam start the halachos with who is patur and only halacha 8 says the chiyuv?
2. Halacha 2 starts saying chayav and then changes to a lashon of mitzvah- why'?
3. ואין המעשה מביא לידי תלמוד - whatt is the hava aminah maaseh could bring to talmud
5. Emunah Vetorah:
Lichora still difficult how could you require a minor to have a chiyuv even for a hecsher mitzvah if he is not a bar chiyuva?
6.
Starts saying daas then says the heart not open - why the change?
7.
8. Halacha 6
9. Halacha 7
10. Halacha 8
The Rambam doesn't write this by other mitzvos whether he is poor etc because even though it is difficult you are obligated to do mitzvos unless you are an ones -
so why is he saying this here? Where do you see from the pasuk that you have to be kovea?
11.
Why is the Rambam telling the history of gedolim? Why does it matter they were matikey hashemuah?
12.
Until when is someone chayav in tefilin also until death, but you will not find such a Rambam. Why say it here? What does he mean any time not learning forget? Many people who do not learn can still have good memories and not forget?
13. Halacha 12
Why is there a difference in torah bksav and baal peh. Why is it initially assur to learn?
