Rabbi Jacobson, firstly I would like to thank you for sharing your wealth of wisdom . I just listened to your amazing shiur, but I have a question. You mentioned that if people are  "addicts", they get angry all the time, for ex. (something I'll admit happens to me often) they have the same neural pathways and behaviors and even if they want to change, they can't really. The implication was they might need therapy? Then at the end you said that the if a person would look in the mirror and see that they have malchut, that they want to connect to Hashem, then what exactly?? They could overcome the bad behaviours? I was a little confused.

I think both are true. We need our Higher Power, Hashem, to help us out of our abyss. We need to surrender to His salvation and power and light and strength. Hashem helps us realize that we can do it;  we are not addicts at our core, we are Divine souls.

But very often we may need tools to help rid our bodies of their traumas etc. Those tools can come in many different ways and forms.

Dovid Hamelech uses one term for Hashem BEFORE a sin

And another term for Hashem AFTER a sin.

We know that there are hypocritical otherwise  frum  thieves who daven to Hashem while sinning to be successful! "Please Hashem, this robbery should be successful!".

What term of Hashem would such a hypocritical frum thief use?
