Excellent Shiur.   I was looking for a connection between Moshe and Hevel's names to support the ideas discussed in the class.  Both names share the letter Hey, perhaps alluding to Moshe sharing a part of Hevel's Neshama.

Using the Beis of Hevel and the Shin of Moshe perhaps can be a hint to use the AT BASH (exchange an Alef for a Tof a Beis for a Shin etc....)  system of Gematria for the remaining letters.

Using this system of exchange, the Beis and Lamed of Hevel correspond to Yud and Shin which spells Yesh, the deficiency which Hevel in his initial state needs to overcome.   Interestingly enough, Posuk Daled in Perek Daled of Parshas Bereshis may hint at this with the word VaYisha (middle letters Yesh), Hashem turned to Hevel and to his offering.

Using the same system of exchange for the Shin and Mem of Moshe would correspond to Beis and Chof spelling the work BeCha (in you i.e. believe in yourself).  This would correspond to the theme of Moshe, although he had more of a Yesh than Hevel was still not confident in his ability to be a successful leader of the Jewish people and needed lots of encouragement from Hashem to assume this role.   This can supported by Posuk Tes in Perek Yud Tes in Parshas Yisro.  Where Hashem says to Moshe, Vegam BeCha, and they will also believe in you (Moshe), forever.  This is right before the giving of the Torah and, perhaps Hashem acknowledging the success of his mission.

In summary, using the AT BASH leads you to two words Yesh and Becha which encapsulate the challenges that Hevel and Moshe needed to overcome.  Moreover the cited Pesukim seem to be aligned with the these ideas.

    Once again, great Shiur

    So many midrashim

that say why Cain killed Abel.  I've heard and read that all midrashim have some truth to them, but in this case in seems that each midrash has a completey different reason (unless truly all of the reasons were true?) It complicates the idea of midrash for me. Can you help with this confusion?
