Rabbi, I am a big fan and usually a cheerleader, but.....

I think that the story you told about the Alter Rebbe in 1812 and the man who pushed his wife off the porch was at best tin ears, at worst irresponsible. I am curious what possessed you to tell such an "unsanitized' Jewish story?

(It reminded me a bit of my father who loves to tell us stories that are off-color...as that one was)

Anyway, I assume I am not the only one taking umbrage with this choice of stories.

Message: thank you for that very inspiring lecture "dealing with our relationships during corona virus." BH my hubby and I have implemented some of your suggestions and have toured many neighborhoods in monsey on our daily walks. HOWEVER what has marred all our walks was the encountering of many jews on their way to minyan.

We passed 4 this past shabbos with Hagbah, Kiddushim etc. How am i to 'love my fellow jews". Where are all the Rebbes decrying this behaviour? When i see this total disregard of halachich and medical guidance I am astounded. And it's not a small minority. At this point i think there are more minyanim than not, many indoors.

It's as if no one "is home" and there is an entire society within klal yisroel who are ignoring all guidelines re social responsiblity. How can i overcome by growing rejection of this segment of klal yisroel as my brothers??? I cannot help but get depressed every time i see this. thank you

    my song

Depressing. Wearing all this PPE as we see patients. Leaves one feeling so disconnected. As though we have to be careful to somehow separate and distance ourselves from them —which is exactly the opposite of what we have been trained and always strived to do.

This afternoon I was watching one of my partners sitting in front of the echocardiogram computer, masked, gloved, and I spontaneously began singing to her, to cheer us both up. (She is Israeli, somewhat מסורתי)
חג פורים חג פורים.... מסכות, רעשניים...

It cheered me up. We had a laugh together. So a few  minutes later, I came up with this:
    ———————————————-
SUNG to the tune of Chag Purim, Chag Purim:

    נגיפים, רוב חולים
    עת קשה להיות רופאים
    מסכות, כפפות
    מגיני פנים

    הבה נזכה לרחמנות
    לשלול רגשי הפחדנות
    נפנים היטב את השליחות
    ידידים להחלים

I’ve been singing it all afternoon. And it really has been cheering me up each time.

Just something I thought I would share. Hope to see you soon.

    The one and only

    Dear Rebbi,

The more I listen to you speak, the more respect and admiration I have for you. Tonight’s shiur revealed your deep understanding of human nature. A spiritual psychologist. Your comments specifically related to husbands and wives were on point. It seems that Hashem has given you special kochos for this time, and you are crystal clear on what we can use this unprecedented opportunity to become.

Thank you so very much for all the energy you are putting forth to strengthen us. May Hashem continue to bless you and your family with good health, strength, succes and nachas.

p.s. Make sure your son brings you enough to drink!!

    Kol tuv.
