    ... and HaSh-m's name?

Maybe you explain it in further shiurim that I have not listened to yet... but you brought up an amazing question that I'd love to hear the answer to.  (Maybe I missed it in this shiur?)

If a name is the channel that brings Divine life connecting soul and body - then what is HaSh-m's name connecting?  In the beginning there was HaSh-m and His name.  What did He need a name for?  There was only Him.

In our tefillah we say we are waiting for the time when HaSh-m will be one and His name will be one.  What does that mean in terms of our definition of the function of a name?

HaSh-m is an absolute One.  Why do we say HaSh-m and His name existed before creation?  That sounds like an implication of parts.

The soul connects to the body at birth?

Don't we say that the soul enters the fetus on the 40th day after conception and therefore abortion allowed up till then but not afterwards?

A name is comprised of neither the soul by itself

Nor the body. Rather, a name describes the relationship between the soul and the body.

We have a name son or daughter of so and so and so and so

The arch-angels do have names. The regular angels have no names. They have no father  or mother either

A person's name encapsulates his essence

Abd therefore when a ger converts,  and his essence changes, his name also changes

Adam gave names to all creatures

What's the big deal? All he did was read the Hebrew letters he saw associated with that creature. He just read off all the names

Pre-creation Hashem and His Name existed

But a name is not something the person needs for himself. E.g. alone on a desert island.  (Thos was written before it was mentioned in the shiur).

If Hashem and His Name existed for what purpose was His name? For Himself? There was no "other" pre-creation.

Perhaps that's why this King needed a people, this Father needed children, this Master needed subjects, this Hashem needed others with whom to have a relationship

The sun gives off an infinite amount of light

Like a person gives off an infinite amount of thoughts and speech.

It was said that the angels sing all the time

And, likewise, the Leviim, sanf and played instruments all the time in the Beis Hamigdash.

Interesting to note that nowadays, like today, music and instruments are not allowed.  Niggunim always allowed.

We know that Adam and Chava were created back to back

And later they were split in two.  Not exactly a rib.

It was just said that time and space were also created together. And obviously later split.

Perhaps there is a relationship between the splitting of man and woman and the splitting of time and space.

Einstein showed that space (matter) can be converted to energy (time) and doing so releases tremendous energy. E.g. Hiroshima.
