  Dear Rabbi YY, you say that the name of the Or Hachayim Hakodosh was Reb Chaim ben Otor. That's not correct. His father's name was Moshe. Benatar was his surname, family name.

  Dear Rabbi Jacobson - I hope you have time answer answer my email but as a starter just want to say that even if you don’t, your shiurim are amazing.
  I am a member of marble arch shul in london (late R Sacks) so not a Monsey man which is a great pity because I love your shiurim. I have 2 Q’s for you concerning your shiur which was posted on Utube about 10 days ago “MOSHE AND THE ROCK - THE MYSTERY OF PAIN - https://www.youtube.com/live/_B6Z103rB50? I have rewatched it a few times because I find it very thought provoking (i am lawyer and sister in law is head of physiology at a hospital so we have something to debate) and each time try to absorb its nuances. My 2 Q’s, are (1) - although you tie it up near the end with the coming of the mosiach and redemption (which the 2nd temple I suppose couldn’t activate), would you mind providing me with the citation/source for your comment that after mosiach, Moses be able to enter Israel and (2) when you say Moses will be able to enter Israel do you mean physically and spiritually or do you mean spiritually but either way, the mystery will then become demystified? Alsich and ohr haChaim beginning of Vaeschanan. Or HaTorah vaeschanan page 65. Page 93. And more sources for this. See also Soteh 9a. Tzafnas paanach beginning of teruma. For the sources of Moshe coming with Moshiach to the holy land:

    ראה יומא ה, ב. מדרש תנחומא חוקת יו"ד. במדב"ר פי"ט, יב. וראה זהר ח"א קיג, ב (במהנ"ע). ח"ב קנז, סע"א. ח"ג קסב, ב. ועוד.

    Clearly, it seems it will be both physically and spiritually.

  הרב ישראלי זצל מסביר מהיכן אדם יודע שהוא קנאי אמיתי? אם הוא מוכן להיהרג על כך.

  אם זמרי היה הורג היה פטור כי היה לפנחס דין רודף ואף על פי כן הוא מוכן להרוג

  כי זה דין באיש - בקנאי ולא דין במעשה

  ולכן רק קנאים פוגעים המעשה לא רצוי אך קנאי חייב לעשות זאת

  The Gemara says that Pinchas is Eliyahu. Can you explain how this fits in with the lesson you gave today? Why specifically Eliyahu?

    Correction: The Zohar says this, not the Gemarah. 
    
    Eliyahu says to Hashem "קנא קנאתי.״. I was a zealot for your honor because your people have abandoned your covenant. So he too was very zealous like pinchas. 

    yet his zealotry was purely out of love and purity. He loved his people. He attends every bris to testify that the Jews still maintain the covenant. He will herold the redemption and being Jews closer to each other and Hashem as explained in rambam laws of kings ch. 12.

  The Ohr Hachaim says that Pinchus was only

  "bad" during the act itself. Afterwards he was back to himself. He did "teshuva". 

  But....doesn't the Tanya say that one can do teshuva for every aveirah EXCEPT for having brought down a nonjewish child. 

  So, according to that Zimri couldn't do teshuva afterwards in case she was pregnant.

  But....being that she was killed "b'shaas maaseh", i.e. at the time, no way she could give birth to a nonjewish child.

  Aaron was more beloved because he made peace

  between spouses and others. in fact the tens of thousands of children born aa a result of that sholom bayis especially eulogized Aaron.

  But....didn't the yidden in the midbar "have it all"? No one had to work. Manna was given, water supplied, laundry done, Moshe was the teacher, etc. This was Gan Eden that the spies didn't want to leave to go to Cannan to till the soil and work.

  What did these couples fight about that Aaron had to make peace? And, if they fought in such a paradise, do we have a chance, especially when our "Aarons" don't pursue peace but encourage pirud?

      And who knows. Maybe we had many people with profound trauma from Egypt. And they needed help. Just like they rebelled against moshe, and wanted to return to Egypt, they can rebel against their wives?

  Zealotry can exist today

  I know of a case where an elderly couple were failing physically, far from their married children and, typically, unwilling to relocate to a safe place. A son, didn't ask, literally kidnapped his mother; then 90, against her will, put her in the car and drove her away to his house hundreds of miles away. Then a sister came to dismantle the house the couple were unwilling to abandon. After her return, there was no functional kitchen so she went to a group home and eventually moved to Israel where some of her grown kids lived. This act of zealots, of literally kidnapping his mother against her will prolonged her life for 14 years, until 104!

  That's from the Rambam. 

  But.....tho rhe Rambam's psak is usually followed by the Shulchan Aruch, in this case its not. To quote the Rambam is therefore misleading. 

  The gittin obtained by Mendel Epstein the "Prodfather", were all invalid even tho years had passed in some cases because he did this for years.

  Yisro gave another daughter to marry

  a Jew. But....after he had come to moshe, seen what's going on, gave his advice as a shver, he went back to Midian to convert his family. We never hear that another daughter came to the yidden in the midbar to marry one.

  most of those who succumbed to Bilaam's

  plan to entice thebmen, were from the tribe of Shimon.  

  interesting. It was Shimon and Levi who murdered the men of Schechem,.those only guilty of not stopping the crime. When Yakov blessed his sons he cursed the anger of Shimon and Levi. 

  later when moshe blessed the tribes, again Shimon is left out. only the tribe of levi had done teshuva by not participating in the chet ha'egel. Shimon remains rhe "bad boy ".

    That's for a different class. But yes the 24,000 students of Reb Akiva were reincarnated from the 24,000 of the tribe of Shimon who died in the plague. And that's why they didn't respect each other because they knew where their friends came from and what they were involved in...

    .in fact these 24000 were a reincarnation of the 24k people killed in Sechem by shimon and levi after the story of Dinah.

    this is all discussed in the writings of the Megaleh Amukos. Chesed l'avraham.  Yalkut Reuveni. Asarah maamaros. And other sources in Kabbalah.
