I don't get how the alter rebbe is answering pshat in the avos marrying sisters etc. At the end of the day, why weren't they mekayim this halacha if they kept Torah?

It’s a very deep answer. The Torah they kept was spiritual and it didn’t translate always in the physical. The concept of not marrying two sisters Yaakov fulfilled in the spiritual sense of “not marrying two sisters” what that means in the higher worlds snd realities. But it did not manifest itself in the physical two sisters so on a physical-biological level he could marry two sisters.
Cf. Likkutei sichos vol 21 hosafos parshas bo about the rambam kiddush hachodesh. And vol 23 Shavuos about the Rambam medical advice in Halacha.
This all goes together with the Rebbe's idea that the whole cheftza shel mitzva only starts after Matan Torah, as he explains by Milah and Avraham etc.

I am a great admirer of Rabbi JJ's shiurim. I watch him on Torah Anytime and am awed by his brilliance. However I was very upset by the session with Dr Van Der Kolk.I found the things that were being said quite unacceptable. After what he said that the yidden shuckling is a means of calming oneself rather then it coming from intense devotion and feeling, I stopped listening when I didn't it right that Rabbi JJ didn't object to what the Dr said.. I would appreciate if I could get an explanation as to what the Rabbi felt after the sessiion.

just a myth buster from end of shiur - mosquitos dont doerom biting victims ! easily discovered via the googlerrebbe!
iwould humbly suggest that this is true of the leech and so the alter rebbe may have been employing it as a metaphor as opposed to scientific fact but not sure ? any ideas

Before Mattan Torah there was a division of the physical and the spiritual
And therefore Yakov could marry 2 sisters and Amram could marry his aunt. And the Avos kept positive mitzvos in a spiritual way (e.g. Yakov 's tefillin with sticks).
So, what later would be prohibited was not yet prohibited before Mattan Torah.
But....before and besides the 7 Noahide Laws, were what would later be the negative mitzvos prohibited? Why was it an aveirah for Cain to kill Hevel before the 7 Noahide laws and before Mattan Torah?

How many people know the difference between a protein and an amino acid? Amino acid are one form of protein while protein is much more diverse hahaha.

Moshal of a train with 400 cars. Each car is an amino acid and the connection of those 400 aminos together in various forms and that is the protein - an long amino acid chain or structure . much easier to assimilate amino acids in the body than proteins because proteins need much more energy to break down to the smaller animo acids that are abel to be assimilated into the blood stream. Proteins are too big.

Why wasn't the Torah given to Avraham?
Why isn't a baby born as soon as it is conceived?
Because it isn't ready to exist on its own yet. Same for the physical and spiritual defendant of Avraham, namely Yitzchak. The Yidden had to mature to the point where they could exist on their own and grow.
Plus, Hashem obviously wanted a yerida (golus Mitzrayim) before the aliyah (Mattan Torah and entry to Eretz Yisroel).

Not eating brings to death. Eating leads to life.

Ahh so basically we shouldn't think we are just eating physical material, yet we are consuming the spiritual divine energy through these material foods.. beautiful!

What is a korban anyway?
It started with Cain and Abel.
Hashem had just made the whole world, including people. What did He want in return? He who has and made everything?
He wanted gratitude
Gratitude comes when a person articulates with words or by action, especially when it coats him something and gives back. The Korban giver gives up some of what he considers "his" and thereby shows both gratitude and acknowledges where it all comes from.
Give a child a big treat. And then ask for a little back. Some give back, others don't. Cain and Abel all over again.
So, it doesn't matter if it's some flour or a huge bull or cash.. We give back and show gratitude.

So nachas is actually
initiated by the parent for the child as opposed to the child giving pleasure to the parent on his/her own?
